ISO 27001 & WLA-SCS

Magnum Corporation Sdn. Bhd. ("MAGNUM") was first awarded with the World Lottery Association–Security Control Standard (WLA-SCS) Certification on 4 November 2013. It is the first lottery company in Asia to be awarded with the WLA-SCS certification for its lottery operations in Malaysia.


The WLA-SCS, which also includes compliance with the ISO/IEC 27001 Standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), comprises 111 security requirements, including 90 lottery-specific security controls for lottery operators and vendors worldwide. The combined security requirements in both standards provide an effective security framework to identify, manage, and reduce security risks in the lottery operations and processes. Both the WLA-SCS and ISO/IEC 27001 standards are renewed on a three-year cycle basis.


In September 2015, Magnum successfully achieved the certification for ISO/IEC 27001:2013, an updated version of the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standard. The much-improved 2013 version has 114 security controls representing current best security practices. In September 2017, Magnum also successfully achieved the updated version of WLA-SCS certification, WLA-SCS:2016, which enhanced the previous version of the standard, WLA-SCS:2012, with an additional 26 new sector-specific control requirements.


Compliance with the WLA-SCS shows Magnum’s commitment to security and integrity in operating its lottery business. It enables Magnum to ensure that effective security measures are in place within all the various operating units in the business. In 2019, Magnum reaffirmed its continual commitment to the security and integrity of its lottery operations with the achievement of both standards for the third certification cycle.


In 2025, Magnum further strengthened its security and governance framework by upgrading its Information Security Management System to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and successfully renewing its WLA-SCS certification to the latest WLA-SCS:2024 standard, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to meeting evolving global security and integrity requirements.

("MAGNUM") has created another great milestone by becoming the first Malaysian number forecast operator (NFO) corporation to achieve Level 3 Responsible Gaming certification from the World Lottery Association (WLA) in 2021. As part of WLA members, Magnum takes Responsible Gaming seriously to ensure global best practices are executed and strictly adhered to throughout the organisation for our customers, partners, stakeholders, communities, and employees.


Responsible Gaming (RG) is the lottery sector’s most critical element of Corporate Social Responsibility. As a global authority, the WLA orchestrates the lottery industry to uphold the highest ethical principles in more than 80 countries worldwide. In 2006, the WLA adopted the Responsible Gaming Principles and Responsible Gaming Framework aimed at protecting lottery players around the world.


Magnum provides annual training to all employees and sales operators to ensure Responsible Gaming practices are well integrated across business operations, while also providing players with accurate information on the potential harms of excessive playing habits within the community.


In conjunction with Responsible Gaming Week, which is held annually in May, Magnum distributes and displays various Responsible Gaming–related materials across all Magnum outlets nationwide, reinforcing our commitment to encouraging customers to Play Responsibly.


Magnum has since continued to successfully maintain its WLA Responsible Gaming Level 3 certification, demonstrating sustained compliance with WLA requirements and an ongoing commitment to upholding the highest standards of responsible play.
